The ER is no place for Alzheimers

Our situation has resolved without medical intervention. Thank God! What I have come to realize is that the ER is a really scary place normally, but for someone with Alzheimers, it is a nightmare. Imagine people trying to touch you and you have no idea why as well as not understanding why you feel bad. Leaving someone in a room for 6 hours and popping in to try to treat the issue and expecting compliance is near impossible – 230lbs of impossible. I am just grateful that I had the gift of insight, from the groups I belong to, and was able to be there with him every minute and advocate for him. It would not have ended well otherwise. #alzheimerssucks
